Playing: Introducing Myself to Malifaux

One of my friends has started up a Malifaux Tale of Many Gamers at my local FLGS and while I might not be able to fully participate, I have decided this is an opportunity to learn about a new game.

From Wyrd Games, Malifaux is:
Based in an alternate Earth, Malifaux uses gothic, steampunk, victorian horror with a dose of the wild west to inject fun and depth into the magical lawlessness of a world rife with monsters, necropunks, manmachine hybrids, gunslingers, and power-hungry politicos. Actively using character-driven stories to define the world of Malifaux, seek your fortune in this fast paced and brutal 32mm tabletop miniature skirmish game. Assemble your crew and stake your claim!

Not knowing much about the background, tactics, or crew building, I decided to choose my first crew based on looks alone. As I want to improve my painting skills, I decided to try my hand at painting some clean looking humans. The Viktorias presented me with the option to do so. From the crew descriptions, it sounds like I might have picked a weaker crew, but this remains to be seen.

The Viktorias: The Mercenary master, is actually two Masters in one. They can deal out alot of damage up close, but individually they're somewhat brittle. Aside from the Viks/Ronin, there's not alot of synergy between the models in her crew, but they're all quite capable of doing their own thing. On the negative, the Viks minions are quite expensive so you won't have a large crew.

I look forward to playing my first game and improving my painting using these beautifully sculpted miniatures.
